Hanaro has 5 POPs located in Seoul, Busan, Kwangju, Daegu and Incheon, handing a total of 2.1 Gbps throughput. They required a solution that would protect their connection to the Internet backbone from malicious attacks such as Nimda and Code Red viruses, while ensuring maximum performance of network operations.

A high performance security solution was provided to more than three million Hanaro users with the deployment of nine Radware Web Server Directors (WSD) with SynApps Application Aware services - installed at the connection to the international backbone line. The devices scan inbound and outbound traffic in high throughput, ranging from 450 Mbps to more than 900 Mbps, allowing Hanaro complete security without compromising on network performance.

By implementing SynApps' intrusion prevention services, Hanaro receives real-time protection from attacks generated by Nimda and Code Red viruses, as well as more than 1000 malicious attack signatures. The application security module of SynApps identifies and blocks malicious traffic at Gigabit speeds, terminating the suspicious sessions while forwarding legitimate traffic.

With SynApps application security, Hanaro is able to add and configure new attack signatures to the attack signature database without requiring updated versions and without being dependant on external resources - providing complete flexibility and freedom to Hanaro administrators.

Radware's management tools generate reports of attacks, as well as the source and time of them, providing site wide security visibility that enables Hanaro granular monitoring of all reports generated by the application security module.
