Radware currently first and sole vendor that offers Havana Compatible Driver in the OpenStack Network Service

Radware® (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of application delivery and application security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers, today announced its Alteon application delivery controller (ADC) now provides Load Balancing as a Service (LBaaS) solution, natively built into the Havana version of OpenStack’s Neutron LBaaS driver.

Addressing network challenges that enterprises have when running applications on a private cloud infrastructure such as ensuring consistent QoE, providing performance consistency of network services across multiple tenants and the need for quick roll-out of new application delivery services, Alteon LBaaS solution integrates advanced ADC functionality in the OpenStack infrastructure for enterprise organizations considering to deploy OpenStack.

“By contributing to the Havana release and offering one of the first plugins for the Load Balancing Service, Radware is enabling application delivery and scale out on OpenStack clouds,” said Mark Collier, COO, OpenStack Foundation.

“This out-of-the-box automation enabled by our Alteon ADC for OpenStack streamlines and accelerates application deployment, thereby improving onboarding times for cloud applications,” says Dr. Gilad Zlotkin, vice president of virtualization and management. “As a core contributor to the Quantum/Neutron LBaaS project, our team developed the LBaaS driver framework in Havana to provide multi-vendor support.”

Radware continues to expand its OpenStack ecosystem by working with partners such as NEC and Red Hat.

“Both OpenStack and OpenFlow allow customers to quickly build and efficiently administer cloud deployments, with ADC playing a critical role in scaling these deployments,” says Don Clark, director of business development, NEC Corporation of America. “Combining NEC’s ProgrammbleFlow networking suite’s virtual redirect technology with OpenStack both reduces the time needed to deliver new services and optimizes virtual network resources. We look forward to continued collaboration with Radware as we integrate ADC into our SDN solutions for our joint customers.”

“We are pleased to have Radware’s support for the Red Hat Certified Solution Marketplace and to collaborate with them on OpenStack’s enterprise advancement,” said Mike Werner, senior director, Global Ecosystems, Red Hat. “We look forward to OpenStack users seeing the intersection of Red Hat and Radware’s technologies during their deployments of the Havana distribution.”

Some of the features and benefits of the Alteon LBaaS for OpenStack include:

  • Guaranteed capacity for ADC services assures that other services or tenants do not impact business critical applications
  • Per-tenant fault isolation prevents failures of other services or tenant ADCs resulting from misconfiguration or other uncontrolled events
  • On-demand ADC service provisioning per customer needs
  • Accelerated provisioning improves confidence and adoption of cloud services

Additionally, Alteon ADC for OpenStack significantly expands open source based load balancing functionality to offer advanced application delivery services such as SSL offloading, URI-based traffic steering, L7 policies and advanced health checks. Radware’s unique solution is based on dedicated, per-tenant virtual appliance instances ensuring that tenants are not impacted by each other and that each has its dedicated capacity and networking resources.
