Featured document: Alteon Next-Generation ADC

Failover is an automatic switch to a redundant or standby server, component or network if there is a failure or termination of an active process. Failover can be an automated process that requires no human intervention.

Failover is a form of disaster recovery and continuity protection. A properly configured failover system can ensure the availability of critical resources. If the network is using redundant resources and a failover system, the secondary devices can be engaged automatically to replace failed primary components, ensuring there is minimal disruption to operations.
