Top Chinese University selects Radware’s APSolute product suite to ensure maximum availability, performance and security of next generation campus networks
Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), the leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, announced today that the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) has successfully deployed Radware’s integrated application delivery and network security solutions which combine – AppDirector and LinkProof with DefensePro to optimize the campus’ network.
ECUST is a leading University with 3 campuses covering more than 1.639 million square meters, serving more than 23,000 full-time and 22,700 part-time students enrolled in the College of Continuing Education and the College of Distance Education. ECUST is also the head of information cooperation networks among Academics of Chemical Technology around China, the Workstation of Scientific Program Consultation and Innovation Investigation Center of the Education Ministry.
With continuous growth in the number of teachers, students and visitors, ECUST has been facing tremendous pressure to handle an unprecedented volume of network access. The University had an urgent need to upgrade its network, to optimize the utilization of multiple Internet links and ensure a fast response-rate without affecting the operation and stability of existing intranet, extranet, Internet and wireless local area networks (LAN). At the same time, the University also needed an effective protection mechanism against DoS/DDoS attacks to ensure high availability, performance and security network access.
To address these challenges, in addition to the investment made in a fiber-optic network, ECUST turned to Radware and deployed a multi-set of LinkProof 3020, LinkProof 3000, AppDirector 3020 and DefensePro.
- AppDirector uses advanced Layer 4-7 policies with advanced health checking capabilities based on HTTP and URL, and granular application intelligence - to eliminate traffic surges, server bottlenecks, connectivity disconnects and downtime - ensuring full application access, continuity and redundancy of ECUST’s infrastructure;
- LinkProof, not only provides availability of the Internet at all times and optimizes the use of these links but also enables intelligent load balancing between ISPs without the need to coordinate between them. LinkProof selects the best ISP link that will give ECUST network visitors the fastest access to data across the Internet;
- Radware’s award-winning DefensePro protects from external intrusion, scans in high-speed, in-depth and real-time application traffic, protecting and preventing ECUST’s website from threats and attacks.

East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), initially named East China Institute of Chemical Technology. Its history can be casted back over 100 year ago.
