Radware DefensePro® and RSA FraudActionSM Anti-Phishing and Anti-Trojan Service from EMC’s Security Division Help Fight Identity and Information Theft

Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), the leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, and RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC) announced a technology partnership to expand an integrated crimeware blocking network designed to provide stronger fraud protection for end users against both information and identity theft as well the spread of malware.

Today, phishing and Trojan campaigns are commonly terminated within hours of detection. However, in the interim they still manage to collect private user information and pose a variety of risks, including fraud. Standard signature-based solutions rely on periodic signature updates which can make them too slow in reacting to such campaigns. End-users remain vulnerable to online attacks caused by Trojans, and phishing websites, without a real-time prevention solution.

To solve this problem, Radware and RSA have joined forces to build a proactive defense at the network layer designed to more efficiently and effectively protect end-users against cybercrime. RSA will supply real-time online threat information identified by the RSA FraudActionSM Anti-Phishing and Anti-Trojan Service to Radware's DefensePro® real-time Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and DoS protection solution. This leverage will enable Radware DefensePro to proactively block Trojans, phishing attacks and the spread of malware at the network level using real-time signatures at one location. As a result, Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), ISPs and any organization that provides security at the network level will now be able to offer enhanced anti-Trojan and anti-phishing protection to their own customers, enhancing value through to the end user.

“This new phishing and Trojan protection capability we are presenting in the IPS market takes existing IP and web reputation services into a more advanced stage to fight the most emerging threats. Working with RSA enables Radware to leverage its network security solution for MSSPs by turning RSA feeds into real-time signatures employed by Radware’s DefensePro and to help proactively prevent information and identity theft without human intervention,” stated Avi Chesla, Vice-President of Security at Radware. “Current static signature detection technology offers protection against old attacks. Leveraging our real-time signature technology with RSA feeds provides a way to immediately react and fight emerging threats.”

Radware’s DefensePro is a real-time Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) that maintains business continuity by protecting IP infrastructures against existing and emerging network-based threats that cannot be detected by traditional IPS. DefensePro provides unique behavioral-based and automatically generated real-time signatures that prevent non-vulnerability-based threats and zero-minute attacks such as application misuse attacks, server brute force attacks, application and network flooding. Furthermore, DefensePro accomplishes this all without blocking legitimate user traffic and without the need for human intervention. DefensePro is based on a pay-as-you-grow model and ease of management through ‘hands-off’ security features.

“Forming this technology partnership with Radware demonstrates how inventive collaboration can further extend our ability to protect customers against escalating online threats. This will bring more value to a broader set of organizations by integrating on a wider scale within the information infrastructure,” said Sam Curry, Vice President of Product Management at RSA. “We must continue to grow a stronger security ecosystem in order to become a more effective and organized entity against the vast underground network of fraudsters.”

RSA FraudAction service, available through the RSA Identity Protection and Verification Suite, is a 24x7 service designed to detect, track, block, and shut down phishing, pharming and Trojan attacks perpetrated by online fraudsters. An effective countermeasure against online fraud, the RSA FraudAction service has helped shut down more than 165,000 illicit web sites across 140 countries to date, protecting more than 320 organizations. Its fraud analysts operate from the RSA® Anti-Fraud Command Center and work 24x7 to shut down websites hosting online attacks, deploy countermeasures, and conduct extensive forensic work to help catch fraudsters and prevent future threats – significantly reducing the average lifetime of an online attack
