Radware - The Pioneer in Firewall Load Balancing Defines a New Standard for Security High Availability and Traffic Management

LOS ANGELES-Internet World booth #861 April 3, 2000 02:00 PM

Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR), a leading provider of Internet Traffic Management (ITM) solutions enabling continuous access to Web sites, IP applications and content, today announced the release of version 1.4 of the company's award-winning FireProof product line.

"Radware was the first company to offer a firewall load balancing product designed specifically for the security space," said Mike Long, VP of marketing and technology for Radware Inc. "That's why FireProof is the only product recommended for firewall high availability by every major firewall vendor in the industry. The release of 1.4 with SmartNAT™ guarantees that our competitors will again be one step behind Radware and ensures our market leadership in the high availability security world."

FireProof is the only switch-based appliance designed to provide high availability and fault tolerance for security firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions. Capable of intelligently distributing traffic between up to 100 firewalls, FireProof eliminates bottlenecks and single points of failure by routing traffic around saturated or failed firewalls. FireProof version 1.4 now includes SmartNAT,™ Firewall Grouping, and SNMP Management capabilities.

SmartNAT™ is an advanced Network Address Translation (NAT) feature on the FireProof that allows it to perform dynamic NAT for each firewall. SmartNAT™ enables the support of multiple address translations for multiple firewalls. Offloading this process from the firewall and on to the FireProof allows easy deployment of firewall farms and creates the ultimate high availability solution.

Firewall Grouping allows network administrators to intelligently distribute traffic between logical firewall farms based upon a wide variety of user definable policy rules. This feature also permits the allocation of different firewall resources to a group of users according to their source address, thus defining different levels of service to different users. Firewall Grouping gives network administrators the flexibility to define specific firewall farms to handle various traffic types such as e-mail (SMTP) or Web traffic (HTTP, FTP and/or outbound LAN). For example, if the first firewall is used for SMTP, the second and third firewalls are used for all other traffic. This new feature provides the most flexibility of any security traffic management device and offers administrators the greatest control over traffic in the security zone to date.

The FireProof, like all other Radware products, is completely SNMP manageable. For additional security beyond SNMP's own inherent mechanism, software version 1.4 allows network administrators to configure which port on the FireProof can be managed via SNMP, thus adding physical security to the product's management capabilities. System administrators can use the SNMP physical security to ensure that the management of the device is done only through their own console. This new feature strengthens the security of managing firewall farms while maintaining all of the benefits of the user-friendly, industry standard interface.

FireProof is already the de-facto standard in firewall load balancing within the security arena. Version 1.4 makes the gap between Radware technology and the competition look more like a chasm.
