Businesses need more ways to protect themselves online. So it should come as welcome news that SingleHop Shield has reinforced their online defense offerings with Radware (News - Alert)'s DDoS Attack Mitigation system.
The Radware DDoS Attack Mitigation system does pretty what its name suggests: it offers a line of protection against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks staged on a business. SingleHop noticed, like a lot of other firms have before it, that attacks based on traffic volume have been on the rise lately, both in terms of the total number and the length of time such last. Blocking the attacks was a fairly common response, but generally, DDoS defense mechanisms were manual, and that meant putting a lot of otherwise productive engineer time into fending off these attacks. But Radware found a way to automate these protections, and that drew SingleHop's interest.
Given that SingleHop offers its protections to over 5,500 customers in more than 124 different countries—including Symantec (News - Alert) and NBC News—SingleHop knows the risks businesses face. With the rise of cloud-based and similarly hosted services, a DDoS attack can do plenty of damage to everyday operations, whether just slowing business operations or temporarily putting businesses out of commission. SingleHop Shield not only offers better protection from DDoS attacks, but also offers software firewall systems, endpoint protection, secure socket layer (SSL) certificates and more at a variety of different package pricing levels.
SingleHop's vice president of products, Jordan Jacobs, noted that Radware offered both “advanced attack mitigation capabilities” and “flexible licensing”, both of which made it a standout given SingleHop's multiple tiers of product offerings. It's one thing to be able to protect against DDoS attacks, Jacobs noted, but being able to offer it at the most fitting licensing terms was even better.
The DDoS attack can be one of the worst businesses face; essentially shutting down business or bringing it to a crawl, it can not only damage business at the time of the attack, but also to follow. When people have a bad experience because the site's running slow under the weight of a DDoS attack—if it's even running at all—there's a lot less motivation to come back to that site later. All the customer sees is the customer experience, and when the site is unavailable it hurts the experience. So bringing in tools like Radware's should go a long way toward helping prevent these attacks from having the worst impact, which improves the customer experience.
