AXENT Webthority Certifies Radware FireProof to Provide High-Availability Load-Balancing Solution

MAHWAH, NJ November 7, 2000 02:00 PM

Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR), a leading provider of Intelligent Traffic Management (ITM) solutions that bring certainty to dynamic networks, ensuring optimal, continuous, personalized and secure service, is pleased to announce that AXENT Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AXNT), one of the world's leading Internet security solutions providers for e-business, who recently entered into a definitive agreement with Symantec Corporation (NASDQ: SYMC) to be acquired, has certified Radware (NASDQ: RDWR) as a strategic "Security" Partner to offer a hardware-based dynamic high availability, load-balancing solution. The partnership combines AXENT's Webthority, the only solution to create a centralized, trusted environment that delivers safe access to Web content, with Radware's FireProof, which provides network administrators a high-availability and traffic management solution that can scale to millions of users. This solution will dramatically reduce vulnerabilities in critical e-business efforts, ensuring a scalable and fault tolerant solution.

Radware is the only hardware Intelligent Traffic Management (ITM) vendor certified by AXENT. FireProof by Radware is an ITM Application Switch that allows Webthority to be clustered behind a single interface. With FireProof, Webthority can support extremely large environments, yet still maintain secure Web access. The combination of the two products answers joint customers' request for a solution which can scale their growing user population while maintaining the security that comes from a secure Web access product.

"Ensuring high-speed throughput and minimizing downtime is extremely important in an Internet environment," said Sanjay Mehta, director of business development for AXENT. "By certifying Radware's FireProof and integrating it with Webthority, we offer joint customers secure and reliable Internet access, no matter how large the environment." "We are very excited about being an AXENT Security Partner," said Rod Jones, director of strategic products for Radware. "The Webthority partnership strengthens our relationship with AXENT and extends our existing alliance with AXENT in the Raptor firewall/FireProof combination." The FireProof system itself has fault tolerance capabilities. Two FireProof systems can be configured to monitor each other's 'heartbeat' via the network using standard IP protocols. In the event of a FireProof failure, the second unit will take over the responsibility within seconds. Failover time is user configurable. The Radware/AXENT solution will be available in October through Radware and Radware channels in the U.S.
