AppDirector and DefensePro solutions ensure high availability, performance, and security of CMS customers' critical applications and systems
Radware (NASDAQ code: RDWR), the leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, today announced that its AppDirector and DefensePro solutions were selected by CMS, an IT outsourcing and third-party application maintenance specialist focusing on large web environments and complex systems. The combination of Radware's AppDirector load-balancing and DefensePro intrusion prevention solutions guarantees critical business continuity for all CMS customers.
The complete information systems and e-commerce web sites hosted by CMS present major variations in traffic volumes. The company chose Radware solutions to provide the level of service required for its customers' core business. All system components are integrated in a fully redundant architecture spanning three sites; two in the Parisian suburbs of Vitry and Aubervilliers and one at Sophia Antipolis in southern France.
"Customers demand a very high level of service and we need to be able to provide excellent system availability," said Nicolas Frontin, CMS General Manager. "Our legacy equipment was no longer able to handle the workload, nor the extensive variations in traffic. We examined solutions from all of the major vendors in this market before opting for Radware. System features, performance, reliability, and upgradability were decisive factors."
Radware solutions act both as a guard and regulator for CMS, enabling the company to automatically manage overflows during peak traffic periods generated by the activities of its e-commerce customers. Radware’s AppDirector enables CMS to both define saturation levels and to ensure that the e-commerce site does not lose a customer in case of overflow, and will be able to display a page describing the nature of the interruption. The e-commerce can thus hold on to Internet users and turn them into customers.
Key features for CMS include the ability for web applications to manage maintenance at layer-7, and the management of SSL sessions. "This solution also enabled us to virtualize Radware’s devices so as to conduct loadbalancing by client, using the same product. This multi-client management capability is an important new feature, which guarantees the security and confidentiality of our customers' environments", said Nicolas Frontin.
"An effective system must be secure, particularly for customers whose business is entirely online," said Nicolas Frontin. "That is why we have combined Radware’s AppDirector with its DefensePro. Now, we can obtain a detailed flow analysis and eliminate "polluting" flows prior to processing. This greatly reduces upstream traffic and avoids system overload." In general, DefensePro takes over tasks previously managed by servers, providing a significant reduction in machine, management, and operational costs.
Thanks to Radware’s solutions, CMS can now control and absorb the growth in customer requirements while maintaining high service levels needed to ensure the continuity of their business.
