Comverse Network Systems, a division of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world's leading supplier of systems, software and enabling network-based enhanced services, and Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of Intelligent Traffic Management (ITM) solutions that bring certainty to dynamic networks, ensuring optimal, continuous, personalized and secure service, today announced that they have formed a joint venture providing aBound™, a carrier grade, scalable broadband platform, focused on end-to-end content delivery services for telecommunications access providers.
The venture, known as Wydeband™ will address the fast growing arena of broadband services offering a carrier-grade, scalable broadband platform and a portfolio of applications and services. Wydeband's enabling technology will allow access providers (DSL, CATV, LMDS, FTTH) to distribute broadband content to end-users and provide end-to-end management, as well as control of content distribution.
Content of delivery services include: video, games, music and other data-intensive information, which is delivered via a unified interface to the subscriber through a "friendly" access-provider portal. The portal, which has flexibility for geographically dispersed locations, can be personalized with the subscriber's preferences. The move away from an Internet connection-only model to a rich suite of services, will offer the access provider the opportunity to compete in new ways, driving both revenue and customer loyalty. Revenue sources will come from the subscriber base, as well as content providers and/or advertisers.
"We are confident we can leverage the strengths of Radware and Comverse Network Systems to become a compelling force in delivering value-added broadband systems and services to the market," said Roy Zisapel, President and CEO of Radware. "As demand for sophisticated consumer communications services increases, Wydeband is well positioned to deliver carrier-class solutions in the context of scalable, flexible infrastructure."
Itsik Danziger, President of Comverse Network Systems, added "Our venture with Radware demonstrates our excitement about the broadband market, as well as our ability to provide a unique set of new revenue opportunities for our customers."
