MAHWAH, N.J. April 26, 2011 02:00 PM

Radware’s Alteon 5412 recognized for its ability to meet unique UCS challenges and ensure continuous business operations

Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC®) Unified Communications® Magazine has honored Radware’s Alteon® 5412 platform with its 2010 Product of the Year Award.

“Radware is committed to providing businesses with application delivery solutions tailored to the specific needs of unified communication system users. As such, Unified Communications is pleased to grant a 2010 Product of the Year Award for Alteon 5412,” said Rich Tehrani, chief executive officer, TMCnet. “We’re proud to honor their development of innovative unified communications solutions and look forward to seeing continued cutting-edge applications from Radware in the future.”

Powered by a state-of-the-art, “pay-as-you-grow” hardware platform, Alteon 5412 provides the capabilities needed to effectively meet the diverse enterprise unified communications network and business needs of enterprise today and beyond. Alteon 5412 specifically enables:

  • Improved Call Completion Rate. Failed or overloaded components in the UC system are bypassed by the Alteon 5412 with intelligent health checks, re-routing, global/local load balancing, stateful persistency, and active-bypass, active-standby or active-active redundancy.
  • Better quality of experience (QoE). Voice and video applications are more inherently sensitive to latency, links, and server response times. Alteon 5412 boosts application response times by 500%; accelerates content delivery with pre-configured compression by 20%- 25%; offloads server processing of TCP and encrypted communication by 30%-40%; and also offers bandwidth traffic shaping capabilities to guarantee bandwidth availability for high quality streaming media.
  • Enhanced security. UC systems open up end user equipment, desktops, mobile phones, and other devices to a wide array of threats. They are becoming an endpoint both internally and externally to risks and exploits. Alteon 5412 provides real-time network attack prevention against network & application downtime, application vulnerability exploitation, malware spread, information theft and known and emerging network attacks to maintain communication continuity.
  • Simplified Interoperability for Reduced Time-To-Market. As leading commercial applications such as Microsoft Lync® 2010, Cisco® tele-presence or video collaboration, and other instant messaging tools from leading providers grow in adoption, they bring outside infrastructure inside, requiring an on-demand ability to scale with growth. In addition, inter-operability and protocol compliance challenges arise that can impede time-to-market and the rise in cloud-computing models furthers infrastructure complexity. All together, Alteon 5412 facilitates these potential stumbling blocks with pay-as-you-grow throughput and service scalability, high performance, message manipulation flexibility, built-in virtualization/cloud computing capabilities, and operations simplicity.

“This recognition from Unified Communications attests to our ongoing and forward-looking support of this essential market,” said Amir Peles, chief technology officer, Radware. “With our Alteon line of products, Radware is able to offer enterprises a critical enabler for their hybrid communications needs that is unmatched today in the application delivery market.”

By integrating ADC platforms such as Alteon 5412 into a network, enterprises and carriers are prepared for the next generation data center – becoming better adapted to support key drivers and initiatives such as: rapid mobile data traffic increases deriving from the rise of smart phone usage, cloud services, consolidation and virtualization. Radware has incorporated the Alteon product family into its Business Smart Data Center solutions and strategy. The Alteon 5412 embeds Radware’s on demand infrastructure approach ensuring customers can gain throughput and service scalability based on business demand.
