Radware has announced the WSD-Pro+, a super-high performance addition to its award-winning Web Server Director* family of load balancer products. The Company has also released version 6.0 of its software for the WSD family, which features local Triangulation™ (patent pending) to provide unparalleled performance. The new WSD-Pro+ hardware platform transmits data at up to 2.5 times the speed of the WSD-Pro and, combined with the enhanced software, sets a new industry record for throughput.
Local Triangulation, Radware's innovative asymmetric load balancing technology, allows servers in the farm to bypass the WSD-Pro+ when sending traffic back to the client. With the WSD-Pro+ processing only incoming traffic, it is capable of handling a much higher throughput, up to 445MB per second for HTTP traffic and 902MB per second for FTP traffic.
Radware's Triangulation technology was first used with the Company's global load balancers for distributed sites and Network Proximity (WSD-DS and WSD-NP respectively). In the global configuration, Triangulation redirects traffic between two sites and the client, thus creating a triangle. Now, in version 6.0 of the WSD family software, Radware has applied the same successful technology to a local configuration, creating a triangle between the client, the WSD unit and the farm servers, thus enabling asymmetric load balancing.
"The WSD-Pro+ and the new software each significantly boost server farm productivity," said Roy Zisapel, president of Radware Ltd. "When combined, their field performance surpasses anything else currently available, providing higher throughput and smooth, constant operation, always."
New Software Features
In addition to local triangulation, version 6.0 of the WSD family software features several performance-boosting enhancements:
State mirroring enables two redundant units to constantly update each other on the tables and dynamic information that they store. This ensures that in the event one of the WSD units fails, transmission to the redundant unit will be completely transparent, and seamless, with no session interruption.
WSD Utilization is a load indicator enabling the user to see how loaded the WSD device is, improving the user's ability to monitor and control traffic load and diversion.
SuperFarm by file types enables the user to split a site according to file type. While all end-users utilize the same URL to access the site, each request will be directed to different servers according to the file type needed. This feature is a powerful addition to the software's existing URL and directory SuperFarm capabilities.
The new software also includes ConfigWare™, Radware's new, easy-to-use JAVA-based SNMP management tool for Radware load balancing solutions.
The WSD-Pro+ is ideal for high-volume Internet sites such as e-commerce and entertainment sites, and large ISPs. Like the WSD-Pro, the WSD-Pro+ provides load balancing for up to 50,000 local virtual server farms and backup servers, maximizing the use of the servers' capacity and optimizing storage resources. It includes all the rich features of the WSD-Pro, which has received industry acclaim for high functionality and ease of installation and use.
The WSD-Pro+ starts at $14,552. Both the WSD-Pro+ and version 6.0 of the WSD family software are shipping immediately.
