Radware Introduces the Industry's First ITM Application Switch

TEL AVIV, Israel August 2, 2000 02:00 PM

Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of Internet traffic management (ITM) solutions enabling continuous access to Web sites, IP applications and content, announced today the release of the company's next generation hardware platform. The Application Switch provides a robust, fast and flexible traffic management solution for users' networks. It combines the latest switching technology and architecture with 's industry proven traffic management software to help users eliminate Internet uncertainty and keep their e-Business sites available 24 hours a day.

's award-winning Web Server Director will be the first product introduced into the market using the high performance Application Switch platform and will begin shipping Q-3, 2000. The Cache Server Director, FireProof and LinkProof products will follow in Q-4, 2000.

The Application Switch is based on a multi-layered switching architecture. A multiple ASICs design fabric ensures wire speed switching for the 2 Gig and 8FE ports. A non-blocking 9.6 Gigabit backplane provides ultra-high capacity for application switching. The Central Processing Unit, a Motorola PowerPC 750 (the fastest RISC processor in the world today) provides the performance and scalability for current and future software enhancements. The new platform is bundled in a 1U box size, allowing network administrators to save on precious rack space, especially suited for ISP/ASP and Web hosting shops. The new Application Switch will ship with 's intuitive GUI configuration management utility, ConfigWare. In keeping with 's overall integration philosophy, the switch was designed to integrate seamlessly into existing networks through a variety of installation and configuration options. These options include, but are not limited to, a single leg connection (lollipop), dual leg connections or configurations that connect servers directly to the Application Switch.

"The richness and speed of 's Application Switch will enable technology companies to create better solutions for their customers," said Kurt Gastrock, Vice President of Engineering, USinternetworking, Inc. "This is a particularly valuable technology for companies that must quickly accommodate customization without sacrificing performance."

"'s new hardware platform strengthens one of the industry's most flexible and feature-rich software feature sets with impressive raw performance and an architecture that lets them target even the most high-volume and content-heavy of tomorrow's sites," said Alistair A. Croll, president of Networkshop.

Users will benefit from the multi-gigabit ethernet support and the easy deployment of high bandwidth. These combined with the rich software feature set provide for unparalleled gigabit load balancing performance, ensuring high availability redundancy, scalability and performance.

"'s next generation platform packages an award-winning feature set in the latest high performance hardware available in the industry," said Roy Zisapel, President and CEO of Ltd. "We designed our application switch for enterprises, e-commerce firms and service providers that demand not only superior network performance with wire speed switching, but also the richest and most comprehensive feature set available on the market."
