Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR) the leading provider of Intelligent Application Switching solutions ensuring the availability, performance and security of networked applications today announced that Keimyung University, one of the largest state-run universities in Korea, has implemented multiple Radware's DefensePro 3000 systems with a 10 Gig interface. Adding DefensePro to its network environment, Keimyung University is now equipped to intercept harmful traffic such as Internet worms, viruses and malicious codes more effectively at multi-Gigabit speeds.
To accommodate the more than 27,000 students studying at Keimyung University, as well as the University's 90 departments in 9 faculties and 19 colleges, Keimyung built a 10 Gbps high-speed backbone network on campus. As a result, users have a continuous and secure connection to university resources. However, to support and protect this new environment, the University needed a comprehensive, feature-rich 10 Gigabit level Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and selected Radware's DefensePro after reviewing other point IPS on the market today.
DefensePro is a full-scale intrusion prevention system that prevents and blocks attacks before entering the network via traffic pattern analyses of DoS, DDoS and SYN floods. In addition, DefensePro controls bandwidth challenges that plague universities due to rampant peer-to-peer (P2P) traffic. Radware DefensePro bandwidth management capabilities identify and control P2P applications by controlling traffic flow - aligning bandwidth and university policies.
"Radware's DefensePro was the only product on the market that was capable of supporting our 10G backbone network environment. As a result of this implementation, our campus' IT network has a competitive advantage as a result of our cutting edge security," said Jae-Yeal Nam, Director of Information & Communication at Keimyung University (www.kmu.ac.kr).
Radware's DefensePro 3000, comprised of 10 Gigabit port, 7 Gigabit port and 16 units of fast Ethernet port is equipped with a built-in String Match Engine (SMETM) to deliver inline security switching, stateful bi-directional scanning and accelerated deep packet inspection.
"Despite the steadily increasing demand, most IPS security devices available on the market are incapable of supporting high throughput network environments," said YY Chung, President of Radware Korea. "The ever-increasing geographical span of networks segments makes it difficult and expensive to secure all campus networks as well as the networks at many financial institutions. Radware plans to actively exploit this market demand with DefensePro 3000."
