Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), the leading provider of intelligent integrated solutions for ensuring the fast, reliable and secure delivery of networked and Web-enabled applications over IP, announces the immediate availability of protection against the Microsoft Windows animation vulnerability (.ANI).
The Microsoft Windows Animated Cursor Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (.ANI) has been published in Microsoft Security bulletin MS07-017. This is a stack-based buffer overflow in the animated cursor code. This attack is known to be vulnerable in Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 through Vista and allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (persistent reboot) via a malformed .ANI, .CUR or .ICO file, which results in memory corruption when processing cursors, animated cursors, and icons. The impact can result in providing an administrator access, as well as confidentiality, integrity, and availability violation.
Radware customers deploying DefensePro IPS and registered to Radware Security Update Service (SUS) are automatically updated and protected against this vulnerability.
