Radware Teams with Compaq to Deliver a High Performance Intelligent Network Caching Solution

MAHWAH, NJ November 13, 2000 02:00 PM

Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of Intelligent Traffic Management (ITM) solutions that bring certainty to dynamic networks, ensuring optimal, continuous, personalized and secure service, today announced a marketing and sales agreement with Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE: CPQ) in which Compaq will offer Radware's Cache Server Director (CSD) Application Switch to customers with its entire line of TaskSmart™ C-Series Web content acceleration servers. Compaq will incorporate Radware's CSD high availability application switching technology in the marketing, training and sale of its TaskSmart C-Series server line. The result of this relationship is a highly available, transparent, scalable network solution with optimized content switching and ITM functionality.

The two companies are addressing the growing demand for efficient and optimized Internet infrastructure and traffic management technology, such as content acceleration servers. The content acceleration server market is estimated to grow from roughly $440 million in 2000 to $2.2 billion by 2003 according to Gartner Group. Content acceleration servers such as the Compaq TaskSmart C-Series, are dedicated computer systems within the Internet infrastructure that monitor and store Web object requests, reducing network traffic and improving the quality of the user experience. On subsequent requests for the same object, the content acceleration or cache device delivers the object from its storage rather than passing the request on to the origin server.

"Content acceleration servers are a major weapon in the war against Web wait," said Mike Long VP of marketing and technology at Radware Inc. "By working with Compaq, we are able to deliver a new standard in high performance and high availability, helping customers eliminate Internet uncertainty."

Radware's Cache Server Director is designed to front-end a group of content acceleration servers to optimize performance, and to eliminate single points of failure and possible bottlenecks. Together, Compaq's TaskSmart C-series server and Radware's Cache Server Director provide maximum cache resource optimization and help increase the return on investment over the life of the system.

"The Compaq TaskSmart applicance servers radically simplify customers' experience and allow them to deploy high performance e-business solutions faster," said John Young, Vice President, TaskSmart Servers, Compaq Industry Standard Server Group. "Combining Radware's Internet cache management capabilities with the TaskSmart C-Series server family, the industry's fastest dedicated Web acceleration solution, enables customers to eliminate the uncertainty of their user's Web experience in addition to improving their response time and saving bandwidth."

For example, when deployed as a Web-server accelerator, the TaskSmart C-Series server can help customers achieve a 10-fold increase in download speed for users. When deployed as a web access/client accelerator, it can reduce network bandwidth requirements 25 to 55 percent for enterprises and 80 to 95 percent for educational institutions.
