Unicomm Turns to Radware's Integrated Application Delivery Solution for Rapidly Growing Network

November 15, 2005 02:00 PM

Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR), the leading provider of intelligent integrated solutions for ensuring the fast, reliable and secure delivery of networked and Web-enabled applications over IP, today announced that Italian supermarket giant Unicomm has deployed Radware's Application Access solution to manage multiple WAN connectivity links across more than 100 stores. One of Italy's largest supermarket and convenience store chains, Unicomm deployed Radware LinkProof to ensure non-stop link availability, load balancing and end-to-end link optimization to increase network reliability and performance.

Unicomm's expansive business network spreads across Italy's national regulatory commission "Grande Distribuzione Organizzata" (GDO). As a member of GDO, Unicomm is mandated to maintain uninterrupted front-and back-end access to a centralized server at GDO headquarters. After evaluating several network infrastructure vendors, Unicomm ultimately selected Radware's LinkProof due to its proven ability to maintain the most reliable network connection possible and avoid unnecessary downtime. Unicomm migrated to Radware's Application Access solution because its legacy system could not provide scalable connectivity or data storage, nor could it sustain Unicomm's ongoing growth. LinkProof allows Unicomm to eliminate bottlenecks and failures across its multi-homed networks, for fault tolerant connectivity and continuous user access to critical IP applications, web-enabled databases, online services, corporate web-sites and e-commerce.

According to Federico Vecchiati, Network Engineer at Radware Partner Miriade, "Unicomm is rapidly opening new stores to expand its business. This places increasing demand on the network. We needed a cost-effective solution that would bolster Unicomm's existing network structure while ensuring reliable access and service to their heavily trafficked network load."

LinkProof prioritizes all link traffic for high quality of service (QoS) and guaranteed service levels for mission critical applications while cost effectively upgrading bandwidth to meet growth in connectivity requirements. By intelligently routing traffic and moderating bandwidth levels across all enterprise and carrier links, LinkProof maximizes link utilization, driving application performance, economically scaling link capacities and controlling connectivity service costs. Securing all enterprise and carrier network entry points and cleansing all link traffic, LinkProof delivers Denial of Service Protection and Intrusion Prevention to protect distributed applications, resources and users.

"We are keenly aware that many large enterprises and carriers need to upgrade their business networks with minimal cost and downtime, so we've engineered our solutions to optimally process high traffic levels while protecting critical applications, resources and users with unmatched DoS protection," said Alexandre Bertuzzi, VP EMEA at Radware. "By optimizing, managing and securing applications across their demanding network environment, Unicomm is equipped for day-to-day operation and sustained growth."
