Radware Virtual ADCs Make High Capacity Load Balancing in an NFV Infrastructure a Reality
For the first time mobile operators, telcos and internet service providers can manage more than 200Gbs capacity in a truly virtual NFV environment without the need to compromise their move to the cloud or quality of service experienced by customers

The tests have proved that for the first time mobile operators, telcos, and internet service providers will be able to maintain the Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) architecture they have adopted for faster network provisioning, and still meet the bandwidth demands of customers.
Mark McIlvane, Corporate VP Global Carrier Sales & Business Development and Sales for Radware explained the significance. “Mobile carriers introduced Network Functions Virtualization in 2012 as a way to make network and service provisioning faster and more flexible while reducing the total cost of ownership. But one of the challenges when designing an NFV infrastructure is load-balancing capacity. In other words, telcos are always grappling with how they cope with the volume of consumers making requests to the network.
“This is because the virtual network in effect becomes a software-based platform running on off-the-shelf hardware. While this brings great benefits in terms of being able to scale the network and become more agile, it also means that resources need to be pooled so that the capacity in the hardware is maximized. Until now, telcos have had to compromise customer service, or the pace at which they move vital applications to the cloud in order to keep service levels consistent. But that needn’t be the case anymore as we’ve now proven that with our load balancing application delivery controller it’s possible to run an NFV architecture at an optimum, unlock the potential of the cloud, and manage 200Gbps in a single virtualized software instance.”
