Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, CVE, is a public dictionary of common identifiers for publicly known information security vulnerabilities. Each CVE identifier references one vulnerability or exposure with a standardized format description and remediation. CVE common identifiers allow interoperability across the industry to have a common reference point within numerous security tools and vulnerability databases. Many security tools will reference the CVE identifier number for quick access to the vulnerability description, vendor patches and work around.
