Yo-yo attack

A financial-impacting attack that leverages the elastic nature of cloud resources. Well-timed, short attack bursts are aimed at overcommitting cloud resources and trigging the elastic scaling feature many cloud platforms leverage. The periodicity of the attack bursts is tuned so to not permit the elastic cloud to scale down after its cool-off period, thereby leading to increased costs by reserved cloud resources that are never used for legitimate workloads.
