Radware Introduces Mobile Internet Gateway Solution

February 12, 2008 02:00 PM

Radware introduced its new Mobile Internet Gateway solution to the market, which is a configurable policy switch that facilitates mobile network transformation into user-service-content aware networks.

According to present trends, mobile operator networks are undergoing a shift from controlled, closed Internet access networks to more open mobile broadband infrastructure models. With this shift, operators are more prone to network security threats, questionable service integrity with no QoE (Quality of Experience) assurance and are also exposed to greater volumes of traffic over the RAN (radio access network).

In order to overcome the above challenges, Radware came up with Mobile Internet Gateway Solution. With this solution which is a service factory platform can effectively and securely opens mobile networks to the Internet, thereby facilitating a mobile network transformation to advanced user-service-content aware networks across layer 2-7.

The transformation to advanced user-service-content aware networks can be achieved through a high performance, configurable policy switch that performs smart re-direction and enhanced RAN utilization, load balancing, flexible flow policy initiation and hair-pinning.

“We are transforming mobile carrier networks into intelligent service delivery platforms that deliver user-service-content awareness needed to effectively help carriers understand their customers and monetize investments in next-generation mobile networks,” said David Aviv, Vice President, Advanced Services, Radware, in a statement, “The goal of our new Mobile Internet Gateway is to offer mobile operators innovative delivery platforms that support new carrier Internet-based service models, for profitable business evolution and ARPU growth.”

Mobile Internet Gateway Solution is based on Radware’s deep packet inspection/deep flow inspection (DPI/DFI) engine. It offers mobile operators with enhanced visibility, intelligence and granular policy-based control over mobile Internet traffic.

Radware’s Mobile Internet Gateway gives carriers the ability to monetize their investments in 3G/4G (third/fourth-generation) networks and takes advantage of opening mobile networks, to yield greater service growth and differentiation.

Some of the fundamental technical and business benefits got by deploying Radware’s Mobile Internet Gateway are Service Factory Enablement, Intelligent Service Routing & Offloading Network Resources, Acceleration and Optimization of Internet Service Delivery over the RAN and Enhanced Mobile Internet Security & Service Integrity.

Radware offers mobile operators with a service factory platform through its DPI/DFI engine. With this mobile operator can leverage on user-service-content visibility, thereby enabling quick introduction to new services, guaranteeing optimized service delivery by enabling improved QoS (Quality of Service) and resource allocation.

Radware can also control traffic flow routing intelligently, through application server offloading and WAP Gateway bypassing. This will improve end-user QoE.

Radware overcomes challenges like mobile RAN bandwidth and handset constraints, thereby enabling adapted, reliable, high performance mobile Internet service delivery every time.

Radware also helps mobile operators to drive widespread mobile Internet service adoption and growth in rich media content delivery to end-user devices.

Radware’s multi-Gig network-based intrusion prevention and adaptive Behavioral security solution can detect and stop network attacks in real-time, dynamically generating filters that immediately protect network resources from emergent Internet-to-mobile and mobile-to-Internet security threats.

Radware also extends premium service opportunities and enables operators to quickly introduce new content-based services such as Over-The-Top (OTT) video, User Generated Content (UGC), and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) services to monetize network investments, by generating new revenue which is caused by heightened service profitability and an increase in ARPU (Average Revenue per User).

Radware is a provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking. It assures full availability, good performance, and complete security for business-critical applications for many enterprises and carriers worldwide.
