Chick-fil-A Selects Radware to Ensure Availability and Performance for LAN and WAN Users

MAHWAH, NJ February 4, 2003 02:00 PM

Radware (NASDAQ; RDWR) the leading provider of Intelligent Application Switching (IAS) solutions, ensuring availability, performance and the integrity of networked applications across the enterprise, announced that Chick-fil-A, one of the largest privately owned restaurant chains in the United States, has standardized on Radware’s IAS solutions. Chick-fil-A has adopted Radware products across their network to ensure the continuous operation of web servers, firewalls, VPNs, cache servers, and multiple ISP links.

“Radware offered us a product suite that addressed our need for high availability, scalability and performance while maintaining strong security,” said Tony Letts, Information Security and Networks Team Lead for Chick-fil-A. “Their integrated solution offered the complete feature set for our needs across the entire network, while providing a strong return on investment by eliminating downtime costs.”

In order for the Operators of more than 870 remote Chick-fil-A® restaurants to process their weekly payroll, they need to access the network located at the Chick-fil-A headquarters in Atlanta. Given the importance of timely payroll fulfillment, the Chick-fil-A network must be available 24x7. To meet this challenge Chick-fil-A has deployed Radware’s Web Server Director (WSD), FireProof, and LinkProof to ensure end-to-end availability of web and application servers, firewalls, VPNs, and Internet access links.

Ensuring consistent response time was especially challenging given that traffic flows vary widely, increasing enormously on Thursdays and Fridays – typical payroll processing days. Such traffic fluctuations often impact network performance. Radware’s suite of products mitigated traffic fluctuation issues by intelligently load balancing traffic among all of the network resources. To further protect network performance for internal network users, Chick-fil-A deployed cache servers managed by Radware’s Cache Server Director (CSD), which maximizes cache resources and optimizes cache performance. This resulted in guaranteed network performance for both external and internal network users.

Moreover, as the Chick-fil-A chain continues to grow, the scalability of network resources for all users must be ensured. WSD, CSD, LinkProof, and FireProof provide for cost effective and unlimited scalability of IP servers, cache servers, firewalls, VPN gateways, and ISP links, accommodating Chick-fil-A no matter what the pace.

“Radware has a product to reinforce every area of the network, whether web or cache servers, security devices, or Internet links,” said Laura Withers, Director of Sales - Partner Market East, Radware. “By deploying our products, including CertainT 100 SSL Accelerator, Chick-fil-A benefits from end-to-end network optimization and can count on the integrity of network transactions.”
