Radware Announces the Latest Version of its Award-winning Web Server Director(2)

Mahwah, NJ November 19, 2001 02:00 PM

Radware (Nasdaq; RDWR) a global leader of Intelligent Traffic Management (ITM) solutions that bring certainty to dynamic networks, announced today the release of version 7.20 of the company's award winning flagship product Web Server Director (WSD).

"WSD 7.20 reflects Radware's innovation and leadership in meeting the ever growing challenges of providing local and global traffic management solutions," said Sharon Trachtman, VP Marketing, Radware. "WSD on our Application Switch II platform takes performance and functionality to a new level. This is evident with the implementation of our SynApps Architecture with the industry's first and most advanced Application Switch."

Application Switch II Platform

WSD 7.20 is available on Radware's Application Switch II which is based on a multi-layered switching architecture and a non-blocking 19.2 Gigabit backplane, providing ultra-high capacity for application switching. Switching ASICs on the port levels ensure unmatched session forwarding rates. The platform supports 5 Gigabit ports and 16 Fast Ethernet ports, all in 1U, providing the highest port density in the market. The Application Switch II platform is powered by a Motorola PPC 7410 RISC based processor.

Global Application and Content Switching

This Radware exclusive feature allows organizations to flexibly use multiple server farms. While having only a single entry point, organizations are provided with a global infrastructure that permits the placement of content and applications based on application, port, URL or HTTP Header. Specific content may be kept at a particular site and different applications kept in fewer locations, removing the need for replicating each application and all content to every server. The end result is that end users are always sent to the best performing site.

HTTP Header Content Switching

Radware's WSD 7.20 introduces a new type of content switching based on HTTP Header Content. This unique feature enables users to configure which server farm should be used according to the values of the fields in the HTTP Header, such as language or type of browser. Based on Layer 7 load balancing, this feature allows WSD to automatically direct mobile phone users to WAP content. Users from PCs can be sent to a particular server farm according to the language used on their browser. A single Virtual IP address is used to provide the different content to users, making it more accessible for them. Server farm management is more personalized and easier to administer, and results in giving end users better service.

Management Enhancements: Telnet Access, Secure Shell and Web Based Management

WSD version 7.20 offers the most advanced and comprehensive management tool set and now supports Telnet access to the device. Telnet access can be limited to a configured physical port in order to block access from the Internet. Password based access can be configured in order to prevent unauthorized access. Secure Shell (SSH) can be utilized by administrators who Telnet the WSD, thereby completely securing remote management. Web Based Management (WBM) enables users to configure the WSD. These new tools are in addition to Radware's award winning software management tool Configware.

SynApps Architecture Bandwidth Management and Application Security Upgrades

WSD's bandwidth management module allows for the prioritization by DiffServ information. By setting DiffServ octets, packets are classified and marked according to parameters such as cookies, URLs, applications and IP addresses. Organizations can now implement policy enforcements end-to-end across the entire network and network devices.

Radware is at the forefront in identifying and addressing potential security risks on the hardware and software level, and WSD's SynApps Architecture Application Security module has been enhanced to guard against UDP flood attacks. This feature prevents Denial of Service that result from UDP flood attacks. WSD 7.20 also provides protection against three additional signatures as a result of known exploits of Microsoft IIS versions 4.0 and 5.0.
