Radware Delivers Content Inspection Director (CID) Version 2.0 - Unmatched Anti-Virus Scanning and Content Filtering

Mahwah, NJ June 25, 2003 02:00 PM

Radware, the leader in Intelligent Application Switching (IAS), ensuring availability, performance and the security of networked applications across the enterprise, today announced the availability of the newest version of its award-winning Content Inspection Director (CID). With the release of CID version 2.0 Radware continues to build upon its application switching technological leadership by introducing new features that provide users trusted and cost effective content security. CID version 2.0 includes new security and Quality of Service features that enable organizations to effectively enforce company policies both in terms of type and level of service.

Customer implementation rates of Content Inspection Director (CID) have quickly grown since the product launch in October 2002. Radware is the only vendor in the Application Switching market to offer a content security device, and the rapid growth of CID can be attributed to the emergent need for high performance anti-virus and content filtering scanning in high throughput environments.

“The overwhelming customer response to CID validates our vision of providing cost-effective enterprise-level solutions that guarantee the best operation of mission critical applications that drive our customers’ business,” said Vik Desai, COO of Radware. “CID, which provides optimized protection and availability of anti-virus and content filtering services has filled a much needed gap for carriers and enterprises that demand trusted and cost effective security in high throughput environments.”

Customers worldwide have embraced Radware’s CID because it is completely customizable to meet a company’s specific needs. Guarded Networks, a full-service managed security firm, has recently deployed CID.

"Our customer's network applications such as web, email and file transfers are all mission critical - no downtime can be afforded in their high throughput environment,” said Tom Neclerio, VP, Security Field Services at Guarded Networks. “With Radware's CID, we eliminated the threat of anti-virus bottlenecks and accelerated content filtering. CID continuously scans and blocks malicious content, providing our customer best of breed, high availability content security."

At the Spanish Ministry of Economy Content Inspection Director was implemented to provide Gigabit speed security switching for anti-virus operations at the Ministry’s main office in Madrid. Guaranteeing the complete defense against malicious content attacks with advanced health monitoring and traffic redirection, Radware CID ensures fully optimization of the Ministry of Economy’s anti-virus gateways.

In addition to customer adoption, CID has been recognized and tested for interoperability by leading anti-virus and content inspection solution providers and Radware partners like Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Forum Systems, McAfee, Symantec, Teros, and Trend Micro, ensuring seamless deployment, transparent integration, and unmatched performance.

“Organizations today face an inability to efficiently inspect Web traffic even as Internet connectivity and bandwidth requirements continue to grow," said Stephen Axel, Vice President of Global Marketing at Aladdin Knowledge Systems. "Together with Radware we have pioneered a solution that provides complete and optimized content inspection for the most demanding computer networks."

About Content Inspection Director

CID safeguards enterprise infrastructures providing complete content security protection with fault-tolerant, accelerated and optimized anti-virus scanning and content inspection. Since content security devices are processing tremendous traffic volumes, bottlenecks can occur during content inspection leading to unplanned downtime or network congestion—the cost of which, according to IDC, is estimated at $16,842 per minute for large enterprise customers. Radware’s CID adds a level of intelligent application switching that contains a pre-screened algorithm scanning for malicious content and differentiates between trusted and non-trusted content providing end-to-end business continuity.

Highlights of Content Inspection Director version 2.0:

  • RADIUS Based Classification – Provides large enterprises, ISPs and carriers the ability to offer services such as URL filtering, anti-virus protection and intrusion detection to customers and remote users. Based on the RADIUS authentication information, CID learns what services each user is subscribed to, and redirects traffic to the farms that provide those services.
  • Full Compatibility with all Mail Scanners – CID’s complete interoperability with all types of mail scanners allows organizations to obtain virus free mail systems by ensuring high availability and optimizing the use of all mail scanners.
  • SNMP version 3 Support - Radware is the first vendor in the market to support SNMP v.3, which provides secured SNMP communications. Together with SSH and Secure web management, administrators receive a complete suite of secure remote access tools - delivering full manageability with maximum security.

Leveraging its security and content inspection controls, CID enables enterprises to define inspection requirements and flow management allowing users to define the specific security tool to handle each type of traffic, user and content. This advanced functionality has already received critical acclaim and industry recognition including New Product Achievement Award at Network World’s COMNET and Best of Show at last year’s InternetWorld New York.
